Change is a Choice

America keeps clamoring for real change.  It has been a headliner for months.  The problem is most Americans don’t really want change.  What we want is to enjoy our pleasures at the expense of others.  The heart of America’s problem is not in Washington but in the heart of its people.   We are a prideful, selfish and sinful people who desperately need heart change but look for it in things, programs or entitlements.   For example, if you gave everyone in America a new car the next year they would just expect a new boat to pull behind their new car to keep them satisfied.  When our focus is completely on ourselves we become like the kid who received a ton of gifts for Christmas and two hours later tells his mother he is bored.  It’s all about us and our pleasures.

It is not all about us!  America must wake up and seek a different kind of change.  It is about God!  America’s greatest deficit is its declining faith.  A faith centered on the God of the Bible!  This kind of faith has been in serious decline as America has seriously declined.  If you think we are sinking into the black hole it is because we have neglected the faith that our founding fathers struggled to secure.   The lasting change America seeks will only be found in broken and contrite hearts before Almighty God.  Faith, Hope, Values, Tradition, Family, Service, etc. used to satisfy America as we centered our pleasure on higher causes with Christ at the center.   Without changeless faith in God we find ourselves selfishly adrift looking here and looking there for meaning, for purpose, for happiness…. Only to be unfulfilled and still looking; still unsatisfied and still adrift!

There is hope only for those who recognize their desperate inner need.   In a moment of honest reflection can you say, “Yes I am adrift and my family is adrift”?  Change is never easy but God has a plan for you.  He has a plan to give you a hope and a future.  The Bibles says, “His thoughts toward you outnumber the grains of the sand”!  He already thought of you a long time ago.   Wouldn’t you like to know what His plans are?  You must understand that only the Creator can satisfy the hearts of His created.
